I got the above message when I tried to log into my bank account – you really have to love it when companies take such time to personalize their error messages to offer that extra level of service. If they don’t have time to update their server messages – makes you wonder what else they didn’t have time to do or forgot.
So I was watching the ballgame last night, top of the 7th, bases loaded, tied game…
Digital cable receiver shuts off. I jump up thinking I accidentally hit remote but find the remote sitting on the table. I pick it up, go to turn on cable box. Nothing. At this point I am thinking, YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.
So I screw around with things a bit and manage to manually get game back on by going directly through TV. Yankees lost. *groan*
After the game, I start messing around with the cable again but to no avail so I just gave up and assumed that it would be working in morning.
It wasn’t working today either so Shane called in this evening to find out that apparently I had cancelled our digital cable bundle yesterday. The funny thing is…I didn’t. The girl said there was a message on our account saying that I cancelled our bundle package because I wanted the sports package. Real weird. Of course she also tried to tell Shane that he was born in a different year than he was too because it said so on our account.
I really pitied the girl because she had to be thinking WE were nuts. I mean I am sure it probably did say whatever she was reading on our account. I guess that someone must have entered information in on the wrong account. Anyhow all is well again now and game 7 is coming on in a couple of hours.
Just got off the phone with XBox Live technical support. They called me back today while I was at work. I returned their call and gave them my ticket number. However go figure, the tech was unable to bring up ticket. DOH!!
Although I have to admit this guy was a million times more helpful than the last 3 people I talked to. He took all my information again and created a new ticket for me. He took a lot of notes too so that made me feel more confident than with my last ticket anyhow. The last ticket involved was the product of a newbie, then a jackass and then a stoner who asked Shane about 10 times his name. Then after he spelled it three or four times for her and was half way through explaining what our situation was, she asked “Was there an “I” in your name. I have to say I was in the knots laughing as I was listening.
Anyhoo I guess we will have to wait and see what the problem is. It doesn’t appear to be an ISP related issue since I tried connecting on a completely different High Speed Connection over the weekend and obtained the same results. It also doesn’t seem to be a firewall issue since I tried it on both connections as a direct connection through the modem.
Worst case scenario this XBox goes on sale this weekend for REAL cheap and I go find a new machine. More than likely I expect the Tier 2 tech group to identify what my problem is and suggest a fix.
I just ran into the grocery store to grab something. They are doing fundraising for lung cancer at the front door. Basically you can buy a battery operated candle to take with you to the lake on Canada Day or an electric one to plug in your window. Or you can just give $5.
They ask you if you are interested and offer you a little information sheet. Great cause and nice people.
After I leave the store I notice the parking lot is covered in these little green sheets. So as if its not bad enough that people would litter. To take something from a charity (which costs money to print) and just throw it on the ground is horrible. If people didn’t plan on keeping their information sheets they should have said, “no thanks I don’t need one” rather than just taking it and throwing it away.
Sometimes I just don’t understand.
I generally will not buy something that advertises a mail in rebate just because they annoy me so much. Unfortunately I really wanted this monitor so it had to be done. Now I got to waste 20 minutes of my time filling out this crap not to mention actually having to use snailmail. I don’t even know how much a stamp costs anymore let alone have one.
That being said I also have a harddrive sitting in a box behind me that needs to be RMA’d. Argh!
I find it very annoying when people send attachments in email and do not use a subject. Especially if it?s a resume. Doesn?t it say a lot about one’s desire to get a job when they don’t even bother to type anything in the subject line of an email? If there application is half-assed what does that say?
